Unit 30.4

Evaluation

In our iPod Nano 6th generation advertisement we have a teenage boy using the product. There is a closeup of his scrolling through music and the selecting of "Pretty Woman". The dancing is what shows in full the humour of the advert. It is purposely silly and dreadful to make viewers laugh. The girl next to him backs away but then asks him what he's doing; this dialogue initiates the boy to show her the iPod, on which it flashes the slogan "So good, you can't help yourself" along with, the practically compulsory, Apple logo.

The filming process was very smoothly, we had the storyboard to guide us as well as Alessandra's direction and with a lot of determination the editing was done too. The humour of the advert and the team made this experience both pleasing and enjoyable. Working with Final Cut and learning how to use a new editor was immensely pleasing too. In the end, it was the success in making people laugh that made the finished advert most pleasing, as well as the successful colour correction.

No iPod nano adverts try to be humourous; it makes this a unique way of advertising the product. However we thought to stay true to the colour aspect of many iPod nano adverts by enhancing the colour of shots and the product during the editing phase. According to Gilliam F...
